How to cancel — the exact steps

On web (skool.com):

1. Log in. 2. Open the community you want to cancel. 3. Click your profile icon top-right → Settings (or the gear icon depending on layout). 4. Find 'Subscription' or 'Membership'. 5. Click 'Cancel subscription'. 6. Confirm.

On mobile: same flow inside the community settings menu. Both show a confirmation screen telling you when access ends.

What happens after you cancel

Your subscription cancels at end of current billing period. You keep access until then — content, course modules, calendar, everything. After period ends:

  • You're removed from the paying members list.
  • Your posts and comments stay (Skool doesn't delete your content).
  • Your account stays — only this community membership ends.
  • Some communities offer a 30-day grace period where you still see the feed.

Skool doesn't auto-refund the current period when you cancel.

  1. 1
    Log in to Skool

Go to skool.com and sign in with your email/Google.

  2. 2
Open the community you want to cancel

Click into the specific community from your dashboard.

  3. 3
    Open Settings

Click your profile icon top-right or the gear icon depending on layout.

  4. 4
    Find Subscription / Membership section

Look for 'Subscription' or 'Billing' in the settings menu.

  5. 5
    Click Cancel subscription

Confirm on the next screen. You'll see when access ends.

  6. 6
    Save the confirmation

Screenshot or save the confirmation in case of billing disputes later.

  7. 7
    Request refund if needed

DM the community owner directly. Brief, clear reason. Reputable creator-led groups offer 7-14 day refunds.

Getting a refund

Skool refunds are case-by-case, not automatic on cancellation. The community owner sets refund policy.

Within 7-14 days of joining: Most reputable creator-led groups honor a refund. Contact the community owner directly via DM with a clear, brief reason.

Beyond 14 days: Refunds are unusual unless there's a real failure (creator stopped delivering, technical issue, fraud). Cancellation stops future charges but doesn't refund past ones.

Last resort: Stripe chargeback through your card issuer if the creator refuses a legitimate request.

Common cancellation issues

'Cancel' button missing. You might be looking at a free community (nothing to cancel) or you're not the billing owner. Check which community you're viewing.

Still being charged after cancel. Verify in Stripe receipt. Could be a different community (you're in multiple). Could be a different platform (Skool isn't Patreon).

Refused refund. Try the creator first. If unresponsive, dispute via card issuer. Stripe-processed payments support chargebacks.

Account locked after dispute. Aggressive chargebacks can trigger automatic access removal. Use disputes for genuine issues, not buyer's remorse.

Stop leaving DMs, churn, and revenue on the table.
