Skool update: how to track what's changing

Most updates are minor UI polish and bug fixes. Major feature additions are rare and announced via the in-app banner or the official email.

How often Skool ships updates

Web: continuous deploys. Most weeks have at least one small change push live, sometimes daily for bug fixes. Members rarely notice; owners with extensions or automation tools sometimes notice when a UI element moves.

Mobile: tied to App Store and Google Play release cycles. Typical cadence is one app version every 2–6 weeks. Updates require members to install the new version manually unless auto-update is on.

Major features: rare. Most updates are polish, bug fixes, performance, or small UX adjustments. A genuinely new feature ships maybe once a quarter on average.

Where to find Skool updates

Channels:

  • In-app banner: announces major changes. Easy to miss if you scroll past quickly.
  • Skool's official email: occasional, covers significant launches. Sign up via the marketing site if you are not on the list.
  • App Store / Google Play release notes: short summaries per mobile version.
  • Founder/exec social posts: Sam Ovens and the Skool team occasionally post updates on Twitter/LinkedIn. Not exhaustive but real.
  • Community in the official Skool community on Skool itself: members and owners discuss what changed.

There is no published changelog page. This is a frequent ask but Skool has not shipped one as of 2026.

Mobile vs web update behavior

Web: zero action required. Refresh a tab and you have the latest version. Sometimes a small banner asks you to refresh after a particularly large deploy, but most updates are seamless.

Mobile: requires installing the new app version from the store. If auto-update is off (default for many users), the app can fall behind by several versions. Symptoms of an out-of-date app: features missing, login loops, crashes on specific screens. Fix: update from the store.

For owners running tools4skool or other browser extensions, web updates can occasionally change the DOM in ways that affect extension selectors. tools4skool monitors these and ships extension updates within hours of any breaking Skool change — most users never notice.

No public roadmap

Skool does not publish a roadmap. There is no public list of what's coming next, no GitHub issues, no Trello board. This is a deliberate choice — the team prefers to ship and announce, not pre-commit and slip.

The trade-off: owners building serious operations on top of Skool cannot plan around announced features. The practical move is to assume the platform stays roughly the same for the next quarter, plan accordingly, and treat unannounced changes as bonus when they ship.

For automation gaps that have been clear for years (DM sequencing, churn save, comment lead capture, scheduled posts), do not wait for Skool to ship them. Layer tools4skool or an equivalent on top — those gaps may persist indefinitely because the team has signaled they prefer to keep platform scope narrow.

What tends to change in Skool updates

Patterns in past updates:

  • UI polish. Spacing, colors, button placement. Most updates fall here.
  • Performance. Faster feed loads, faster course video starts, smaller mobile bundle.
  • Mobile parity. Bringing the mobile app closer to web feature-set.
  • Search improvements. Better feed search, better course search.
  • Notifications. Better triage, more useful push messages.

What rarely changes: the platform's automation surface (DM sequencing, churn save, scheduled posts). The team's focus has stayed on community + course experience, not on the operations layer. That is what makes external tools necessary at scale.

Stop leaving DMs, churn, and revenue on the table.

Frequently asked

On iOS, App Store → Updates → Skool → Update. On Android, Google Play → Manage apps → Skool → Update. Or enable auto-update in your store settings to keep it current automatically. Web does not need updating — refresh the page. Falling behind on the mobile app is the most common cause of missing-feature complaints.
