Skool payment methods — exactly what's accepted

Whatever Stripe accepts in your country, Skool accepts. Cards work everywhere. Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH, SEPA, and others depend on Stripe's regional support.

The payment stack — Stripe and only Stripe

Skool processes 100% of community payments through Stripe. There's no PayPal option, no Square fallback, no Wise, no crypto. If Stripe doesn't support a payment method in your region, Skool doesn't either.

This is a deliberate product choice. Stripe is the most reliable payment processor for global SaaS, has the cleanest API, and handles 90% of what creators need. Adding more processors creates complexity that Skool's small team has chosen not to tackle.

When members check out for a paid community, the flow is: Skool's checkout UI → Stripe Elements (the payment form) → Stripe processes the card → Skool gets a webhook confirming the subscription is live → member is granted access. The whole flow takes 3-10 seconds.

What members can pay with

Always available globally:

  • Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover
  • Most regional debit cards (varies by issuer)
  • Apple Pay (on Safari iOS, on Chrome with paired iPhone)
  • Google Pay (on Chrome, Edge, on Android)

Available in supported regions (depends on Stripe's regional support):

  • ACH direct debit (US)
  • SEPA direct debit (EU)
  • iDEAL (Netherlands)
  • Bancontact (Belgium)
  • Giropay (Germany)
  • BLIK (Poland)
  • WeChat Pay / Alipay (China, requires owner enablement)
  • Klarna / Afterpay (limited regions, owner-controlled)

Not available:

  • PayPal (Skool doesn't integrate it)
  • Cryptocurrency
  • Wire transfer
  • Check / cash
  • Most cash-app or local-only methods (Venmo, Cash App, etc.)

The specific options shown at checkout depend on the member's location, the owner's Stripe account configuration, and whether the owner has enabled extra payment methods in their Skool / Stripe settings.

Fees — what owners actually keep

Stripe's standard pricing applies:

  • US-issued card on US-based community: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction
  • International card (member outside owner's country): typically +1% surcharge
  • Currency conversion: typically +1% if Stripe converts
  • Disputes / chargebacks: $15 per dispute, refunded if you win

Skool itself takes nothing additional on transactions. Their revenue comes entirely from the $99/month platform fee paid by owners.

Example: a member pays $97/month for a community. Stripe takes $2.81 + $0.30 = $3.11. Owner receives $93.89. Over 12 months: $1,127. After Skool's $99/month × 12 = $1,188 platform fee... wait, the platform fee is shared across all members, not per-member. So at 100 paying members at $97/month, the math is: $9,700 in monthly revenue, $283 Stripe fees, $99 platform fee, owner nets ~$9,318/month.

Owner payouts — getting your money

Payouts go directly from Stripe to your bank, on Stripe's standard schedule:

  • US: typically 2 business days from charge to bank
  • UK / EU: typically 7 business days for new accounts, 2-day rolling after established
  • Other countries: 7-day rolling typical

You control payout cadence in your Stripe dashboard (daily, weekly, monthly, manual). Most owners leave it on automatic daily / 2-day rolling.

There are no payout limits beyond Stripe's account-level holds (which apply to first payouts on new accounts and are usually released within 14 days). Skool itself doesn't hold or delay funds — the money flows straight from member to your Stripe account to your bank.

Tax: you're responsible for sales tax / VAT collection. Stripe Tax (a paid Stripe add-on) handles this automatically if enabled. Otherwise the owner reports and remits manually.

International quirks worth knowing

If you're an owner outside the US:

  • Stripe must be available in your country. Stripe supports 40+ countries. If you're in Argentina, Pakistan, or other unsupported regions, you can't run a Skool community as an owner directly.
  • Workaround: incorporate in a Stripe-supported jurisdiction (Delaware C-corp, UK Ltd, Estonia e-Residency) and use that entity's Stripe account.
  • Currency: you can charge members in any Stripe-supported currency. Most US-led communities default to USD.
  • VAT / GST: if you sell to EU members from outside the EU, you may need to register for OSS (One Stop Shop) and remit VAT. Stripe Tax automates this.
  • Local payment methods: enable region-specific methods (iDEAL, SEPA, etc.) in your Stripe dashboard to lift conversion in those markets.

Operations tooling — managing the post-payment lifecycle

Once members are paying, the next operational layer is retention. Skool's native tools don't catch cold members or handle churn recovery automatically.

tools4skool is a Chrome extension + dashboard that fills these gaps. Auto DM Sequences fire on lifecycle events (joined, paid, cancelled, cold). Churn Saver fires a recovery DM within 60 seconds of cancellation — most owners recover 15–25% of churners with this alone. Churn risk scores flag at-risk members.

Free forever (1 sequence, 20 DMs/day). Paid tiers $29 / $59 / $149/month. Chrome extension piggybacks your existing skool.com session — no password stored. Kate Capelli case study: $59/month subscription, $4,000/month additional revenue in two weeks.

Stop leaving DMs, churn, and revenue on the table.

tools4skool plugs the holes Skool ships with. Free plan forever, paid tiers from $29/mo.
