Skool app for computer: there's no desktop app — here's the workaround

If you're looking for a Skool app for Mac or Windows, you won't find one. Skool runs through skool.com in your browser — and you can install it as a PWA for an app-like feel.

There is no native Skool app for computer

Skool doesn't ship a native desktop app for Mac or Windows. The platform runs through skool.com in your browser. This is a deliberate product decision — most of what Skool does (community feed, courses, calendar) is well-served by the web.

If you've seen 'Skool desktop app' on download sites, it's almost certainly fake or a wrapped browser. Don't install it. Use skool.com directly.

Install Skool as a PWA for app-like feel

Modern browsers support installing websites as Progressive Web Apps. Skool works well as a PWA.

Chrome / Edge: Open skool.com → click the install icon in the address bar (looks like a screen with a down arrow). Confirm. The PWA opens in its own window without browser tabs.

Safari (Mac): File → Add to Dock. Same effect.

The PWA isn't a true native app but feels app-like — separate window, dock icon, no browser tab clutter. For most workflows it's indistinguishable from a real app.

What about the mobile app?

Skool ships native iOS and Android apps. They're full-featured and the app many members spend more time in than the web. Push notifications work properly. The community feed feels naturally mobile-first.

For community owners managing a community, mobile is good for quick replies and notifications but worse for course module editing or analytics review. Most owners use mobile for monitoring and web for ops.

Third-party tools that augment the desktop experience

If you're a community owner and the web feels limited, browser extensions can extend functionality.

tools4skool Chrome extension — installs in one click, piggybacks your existing Skool session (no password stored), and adds welcome DM automation, churn-saver, comment lead mining, slash commands, and an unreplied inbox filter directly into your Skool web experience. Free tier covers small communities; paid tiers run $29-$149/month. This effectively makes the web Skool experience more powerful than any native desktop app would be.

Stop leaving DMs, churn, and revenue on the table.

tools4skool plugs the holes Skool ships with. Free plan forever, paid tiers from $29/mo.
