Skool automation app: what's actually available

Here's the honest landscape: what doesn't exist natively, what does in third-party tooling, and how to pick safely.

Native automation — Skool ships almost none

Skool's native product has no automation engine. There is:

  • No welcome DM trigger on join
  • No churn-saver flow on cancellation
  • No behaviour-based segmentation (e.g., 'tag members who completed module 3')
  • No DM blast or scheduled DMs
  • No public API to build against
  • No native Zapier app
  • Limited webhooks not broadly published

This is intentional — Skool's product philosophy is opinionated and narrow rather than extensible. Automation comes from outside.

Third-party automation apps

Several third-party Chrome extensions exist that piggyback your existing logged-in Skool session. They watch for events (new join, cancel, keyword match) and fire DMs or other actions.

Quality varies. Some are early-stage hobby projects that break when Skool ships UI changes. Some are actively maintained vendor products with rapid breakage fixes. The market is thin enough that picking well matters more than in saturated SaaS categories.

  1. 1
Identify your top 3 manual workflows

Welcome DMs, churn-saver outreach, comment lead capture are the usual suspects.

  2. 2
    Install a reputable Chrome extension

Pick one with active maintenance and clear vendor channel. tools4skool is the one we built.

  3. 3
Set up the welcome DM sequence first

This is the highest-impact automation — fires within 60 seconds of join.

  4. 4
    Add churn-saver next

Triggered DM within 60 seconds of cancellation. Saves 5–15% of cancellers.

  5. 5
Layer comment miner if you have public posts

Captures leads from non-members commenting on your content.

What's actually worth automating

Five workflows that move the needle for Skool community owners:

1. Welcome DMs — fire within 60 seconds of join. Highest engagement window. 2. Churn-saver — DM within 60 seconds of cancellation. Saves 5–15% of cancellers. 3. Inactivity check-in — DM members who haven't posted in 14+ days. 4. Comment lead capture — extract emails / DM signals from non-members commenting. 5. Member CSV export — for backup, segmentation, external tooling.

Everything else is gravy. These five replace 10–20 hours/week of manual work for a community over 200 members.

tools4skool — the extension we built

tools4skool is the Chrome extension we built specifically for these gaps. It piggybacks your existing Skool session — no password ever stored — and includes:

  • Auto DM Sequences with multi-condition triggers (AND/OR), image DMs, member tags + CRM pipeline auto-synced
  • Churn Saver — DM within 60 seconds of cancellation
  • Churn risk scores — flags cold members
  • Inbox tools — slash commands, unreplied filter, scheduled posts
  • Comment Miner — extract leads from non-member comments
  • Member Export (CSV), Analytics, Keyword Monitor, Pipeline (Kanban), DM Blast

Free tier (1 sequence, 20 DMs/day, 1 account) covers the welcome flow. Paid tiers $29/$59/$149 per month for the rest. Real proof point: Kate Capelli — "$59/mo → $4,000/mo more in 2 weeks; 7,000% ROI".

How to pick a Skool automation app safely

Three checks:

1. Maintenance signal — when did the developer last ship? Anything older than 60 days is a red flag in this niche. 2. Permissions — extensions that ask for your Skool password directly are sketchy. Reputable ones piggyback your existing session. 3. Vendor channel — website, support, clear contact info. Random unbranded extensions are a no.

If the extension breaks the week you need it most, you've burned the time you saved.

Stop leaving DMs, churn, and revenue on the table.

tools4skool plugs the holes Skool ships with. Free plan forever, paid tiers from $29/mo.
